Our Generous Benefits Package

Common Sense employees enjoy a rich Health & Welfare Benefits package. If you're a full-time employee—regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week—you're eligible once you're hired. Most benefits start the first of the month following your hire date.

Development Director, Bay Area Region

San Francisco, CA

Salary Range: $111,200-$132,050

The Development Director, Bay Area Region serves as the lead strategist, manager, and frontline fundraiser for Common Sense’s major gift individual and event fundraising effort (gifts of $5,000-$100,000+) in the Bay Area. The Development Director manages and builds the Bay Area/Silicon Valley Regional Advisory Councils and oversees both cultivation and fundraising events across the region. Working closely with the VP of Development, Individual Giving, the Regional Advisory Councils, and the CEO’s office, this position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding existing and new donor relationships, with a focus on raising five and six-figure gifts.

Public Relations Manager

San Francisco, CA

Salary Range: $85,600.00- $96,300

We are seeking a communications professional who can work across teams to promote our research, ratings, and content externally. The ideal Public Relations Manager is an avid news consumer who has a deep understanding of the media landscape and enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Senior Counsel, Tech Policy

Washington, D.C.

Salary Range: $111,200-$132,050

The senior counsel for tech policy will serve as the primary front line policy and legal advocate on behalf of Common Sense Media’s mission to make the internet healthier and safer for children, teens, and families. The Senior Counsel will be skilled at identifying and analyzing legislative, legal, and regulatory developments and opportunities, communicating with a broad range of constituencies, and writing content for diverse audiences.

Social Media/Copywriter (temp)

San Francisco, or one of our hub locations (LA, D.C., NY)

Salary Range: $25-$30 an hour

The social media and copywriting temp will support key teams across the organization on both day-to-day social media tasks and project-specific copywriting needs. The role will report to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications but will need to work independently with members of the teams supporting these projects.

Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement Manager

San Francisco, CA

Salary Range: $85,600-$96,300

The Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement Manager will design strategies that result in an engaged workforce. They will develop and troubleshoot processes and procedures that produce a high-quality workplace experience, from recruitment to offboarding. They will focus on three critical areas: talent acquisition and onboarding, professional development, and employee engagement. Additionally, they will oversee our internship and volunteer program and assist with special projects as needed. This is a key position on the People Operations team, and the successful candidate will take a proactive and engaged approach to the role and their interaction with employees across the organization, both in person and remote. The successful candidate will have a customer service mindset and be motivated to make a positive impact on the workplace.

An independent voice for kids, families, and schools everywhere.

Common Sense is a nonprofit organization giving kids, families, and schools the tools to make informed choices about media and technology. Families know us for our independent, age-based reviews of movies, TV shows, books, games, podcasts and apps. Educators use our free curriculum and edtech reviews to plan lessons and integrate technology into their teaching practice. At our core, we are a children's advocacy group. We draw on original research, industry expertise, and community partnerships to advocate for laws and policies that help kids thrive.
